ten naujas fizikos desnis ishvestas: ------------------------ "Step 1: Go to Walmart or Home Depot Step 2: Purchase about $10 worth of red and silver spray paint
You get the rest of the idea.... I say stick with the stock scheme. I was once told by the late Bob Stanley that "the severity of your crash is directly proportional to the cost of your paintjob." Somehow, I believe him. I crashed on rattle can paint at over 100mph on the track, about $100 in repairs. I crashed at about 40mph on the track with a new bling paint job = totalled bike. ---------------------------------- Ain't that the truth..
Last year - Started off with a show quality honda-red paint job.. crashed a couple times times on that. Switched to a white automotive paint.. crashed on that. Went with dark red, still fancy automotive paint.. crashed.
This year - Flat black. I figured its easy to touch up when I crash. Ugly as shit though. No crashes. Yet. Although.. new Sato exhaust this year, first lap I turned on the track with it - got hit, dented up the left can. Didn't crash though, the ugliness of the paint job kept the bike upright and on track ----------------------- I can vouch for all that he said. I unfortunately, had to watch him enter into one of those crashes. I can also vouch for the conspiracy theory with how much buck goes into the paint and how that affects the outcome of the crash. I went all crazy with my first paint job early last season and it pretty much got destroyed my first weekend out. Then I used good automotive paint but went with the black touches up easier idea and no matter what I did, the damn thing just wouldn't take a soil sample. And then I finally did sample some fine Michigan soil at Gingerman in practice and guess what... The bike looked just as good as it did before it tucked at about 60 mph.
My moto with track paint is keep it cheap, keep it simple, anticipate touch ups, and throw some creativity in there if you can. You might be surprised at how nice it looks when you are done"
