The organisers of the Dakar Rally on Monday announced the creation of a new race, the Central Europe Rally, a seven-stage contest to be held in April in Hungary and Romania.
The 3,000-kilometre race will be the first of the "Dakar Series," a new enterprise by the Amaury Sport Organisation, which holds the annual Dakar Rally between a European city and Dakar, Senegal.The race will start in Budapest on April 20 and finish on 26th.
About 250 racers are expected to compete in the three categories - motorcycles, cars and trucks. This year's edition of the Dakar Rally was cancelled due to terrorism threats in North Africa.
