Na aš tai kaip tik pirmosiom rugsėjo dienom stengiuosi važinėti harliu:
- atpisa kamščius
- vedu edukologinę programą naujai atvykusiems "guolpai ir bulkos, jūs ne vieni kelyje!"
- paaištrėjusi parkavimo problema ne motais;

My Harley history:
I laughed at them all through the '80's. Why would anyone want to ride one of those oil leaking, slow, loud, obnoxious pieces of shit? I thoroughly enjoyed my Suzukis and Kawasakis.
1993: I wanted to sell my Kaw and get a cruiser. I reckoned it was time to slow down. I fell in love with the looks of the Softail Custom and had to have one. I walked into the local dealer and after 30 minutes still couldn't get the time of day from anyone. I left and came back a week later. This time I got someone's attention after about 30 minutes. I told them what I wanted. They said "great, it'll be in about 6 months from now."
"really?"
"yep."
"I guess I'll ride my Kaw until then."
"Well if you ride a Kawasaki what Harley do you have to trade on the Softail?"
"none."
"Well then I can't sell you a new bike."
I was off to the Honda store and bought a new Shadow 1100. Sold it a year later. Too damn boring.
1997 I actually bought my 1st Harley, a 1200 Custom. Loved it, tore it down in the living room that winter and put entirely too much money into it. Traded it on a 1998 Wide Glide the next summer. Did some engine work and made it run reasonably fast. They really are the two-wheeled version of the American Hot Rod. Rode the Wide Glide for nearly two years and 16,000 miles. In the mean time I purchased an 883 for my girlfriend as a Christmas present. Three months later the polished aluminum bits were corroding. No one ever told me H-D didn't warrant cosmetics after purchase. Pissed me off but good.
I sold both Harleys and bought my 1st BMW, a 2000 R1100 RT. The RT was so great I just couldn't believe I'd wasted so much time and money on Harleys. Unfortunately the dealers and support sucked ass. The bike broke a driveshaft at 3 months old and the boneheads didn't fix it for nearly 2 months. But I forgave them, and then came a long string of BMW's.
In 2002, after 1/2 year on disability and a permanent disabling injury I was no longer going to be able to work as an Auto Tech. My good friends at the Harley/Buell dealership hired me as a Warranty Administrator. I rode my BMW to work the first day, and most days thereafter. My new co-workers and I exchanged lots of good-natured humor about it. In April 2003 I was promoted to Service Manager.
I started buying Buells as second bikes/sport bikes in 2003. I had two of them, and they were both fantastic. I put 16,000 miles on the first one (XB9S) in one year and have nothing but great things to say about it. I got rid of it to buy the XB12R when the bigger engine came out. It was also great.
I didn't finally buy another Harley until 2006, at which time I purchased a very lightly used 2006 883R to hang a sidecar on. That rig was absolutely fantastic - fun to ride, cheap to own and operate, never broke.
In late 2006 I was given a 2nd Service department to run at one of our other dealerships that wasn't quite done being built.
In August of 2007 I was given the third dealership Service department to run, essentially making me Director of Service Operations for the entire organization.
October 2007 - on the way back from a wonderful ride down the Blue Ridge Parkway some inattentive ass clown ran over my Sportster/hack. It was a total loss. The dogs, my girlfriend, and I were all very upset, but I think the dogs took it the hardest. It was their bike. It was also the only one of the 6 bikes I owned at the time (including an '06 FJR, '07 RT, and a host of others) that I really gave a shit about.
Feb 2008 I purchased a brand new Harley-Davidson Crossbones and ordered a new sidecar. The sidecar won't be here until summer, but the bike itself is great. The new 96" powertrain w/6-speed is awesome. Tons of torque in exactly the right ranges to pull a sidecar. Very comfortable with a nice ride. I'm completely happy with everything except the fact that the weather sucks ass and I've only been able to put a couple hundred miles on it so far.
I'm still running Service for the three dealerships.
There are negatives when it comes to H-D, but really not very many. They have given me a great career, I've met many great people, and enjoyed many great bikes. Their quality has gone up significantly year after year until they have reached the top of the game. Fit & finish is fantastic, and they are cheap to operate and keep on the road. Maintenance requirements have gone steadily down each year. Maintenance parts are very reasonably priced. Accessories, not as much but still cheaper than my favorite German brand (I still have two BMW's).
Riding a Harley has no equal. Use it within it's intended purpose and you'll discover some really fun and dare I say relaxing riding, depending on the model. Try to ride one like the sport bike it isn't and you'll be disappointed. If an American sport bike is what you want you need to take a look at Buell. As for the Nightster, it's a great bike. You'll have all kinds of fun on moderately twisty roads at sane speeds, but you'll notice that footpegs and exhaust will drag with relative ease if you are any kind of aggressive. There are cures for this, but in my opinion if the cure is needed you are probably pushing the bike harder than it is meant to be pushed.
Resale isn't what it used to be, but it's still better than most.
Out of the 50 motorcycles I've owned in my life the least reliable of the Harley products has been equal to or more reliable than the most reliable of the Hondas, Kaws, Suzi's, BMW's, Yamahas, Guzzi's Husky's and everything else I've owned.
Seriously!
How does you do?
