MARC MARQUEZ recorded the fastest time for the third day in a row at private testing in Austin yesterday.

The 20 year-old Spaniard has taken to the recently-opened Circuit of the Americas like a duck to water, dominating the top of the leaderboard throughout the test.

He said: 'This final day has been good for me,

'From the beginning I had the same feeling as yesterday and especially this morning we started to try some technical settings for the first time and we found some big improvements.

'It's quite a physical track - especially the first sector - but in the end, we now know the track a little and we have a good base for when we come here for the GP.'

Marquez's Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa suffered a minor neck strain which hampered his testing, limiting him to 24 laps.

Factory Yamaha sat out the final day of testing, somewhat chastened by a couple of days spent trailing the Hondas. Jorge Lorenzo said: 'We are not maximum satisfied because we are a little far from the Hondas at this track,

'The key difference is that we lose some tenths on the straight. They can turn easier in the slow corners and accelerate faster.'

Lorenzo's teammate Valentino Rossi echoed his sentiments. He said: 'We are closer, but there remains one second to the top and there are still some problems,

'I have problems stopping the bike. I'm not very good in hard braking. Also we have a bit too much of a wheelie issue in acceleration from the hairpin.'
