Nicky Hayden Movie on MTV Friday
This Friday night, Nicky Hayden's reality movie "The Kentucky Kid" will be premiering at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Order a pizza and tune in as the cameras follow the 2006 MotoGP World Champ and two-time Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix winner from the end of the 2006 season and throughout his 2007 season.
From MTV PR:
"The Kentucky Kid" chronicles the life of pro motorcycle racer Nicky Hayden starting with the final two races of the 2006 season, where he is well on his way to becoming the new MotoGP World Champion. The chance of fulfilling his life long dream seemingly slips away when Nicky is dramatically crashed out of the race by another rider. With the odds against him, and a fractured collarbone, Nicky proves that dedication and perseverance can help overcome any obstacle as he claims the MotoGP World Championship in remarkable fashion. But as the new racing season starts, Nicky finds that the only thing harder than winning the Championship is defending it.

Hayden also experienced the Malaysian wildlife at close quarters today when his knee collided with an unfortunate snake at Turn 11 of the 5.548km circuit. The Repsol Honda rider emerged unscathed from the encounter but the snake was not so lucky...
"I smoked my first snake, the poor thing," confirmed Nicky. "I was just heading through turn 11 when the snake sat up and I saw it but I was committed on the apex of the corner. I picked the machine up and tried to avoid him but caught him with my knee. I'm pretty sure it was a cobra and I'm sorry for it."

Maybe the Ducati Wasn't Better Than the Competition
By Dirck Edge
Watching Marco Melandri struggle during early testing of his 2008 Ducati MotoGP bike reminded me of how often Loris Capirossi struggled last year . . . even while Casey Stoner was running away with a race win. Even a Ducati MotoGP race representative has been quoted as saying Stoner made all the difference.
Something fairly objective like top speed on the straight can be measured and compared to the competition, but Capirossi already seems more at ease with his new Suzuki and Melandri seems thus far clueless about how to ride the Ducati quickly. Perhaps, it was Stoner's talent much more than his machinery that gave him an advantage last year.

Ducati 'fears Honda most'
Ducati Corse CEO Claudio Domenicali says that Honda is the manufacturer he fears most ahead of the 2008 MotoGP season.
..."The bike that worried us most initially was Honda, because they have a technical capacity which does not require [explanation]," the official MotoGP website reports Domenicali as saying. "Usually when there are rule changes, like in 2002, that's a team that have always got the project right. So perhaps Honda is the one that was not up to expectations [in 2007].
"As for the bike I fear most in 2008? Honda again, because I think that they can make a mistake once but it's difficult for them to make the same mistake twice," Domenicali warned...
